Marion Cotillard joins Brad Pitt for new WW2 thriller

Marion Cotillard has signed on for Robert Zemeckis's as yet untitled WW2 thriller, in which she and Brad Pitt will star as a pair of spies-turned-lovers on an assassination mission to Casablanca.

All is rosy between the two secret agents until Pitt's character is informed his beau is a double agent, and is ordered to kill her. Not unlike the premise of Mr. & Mrs. Smith then, give or take the wartime setting...

The project has previously been described as a "sweeping romantic thriller", with Eastern Promises screenwriter Steven Knight having penned the script. At present, the plan is to begin shooting in early 2016, with an official release date to be confirmed in due course.
