Amazon is going zero profit mode on the best PS5 controller right now with an £80 discount

Amazon's Spring Deals are still going strong in the UK, and although deals on the best PS5 controllers are few and far between in the sale, the best one of the bunch has been reduced by a surprising £80. I've been watching the price of this controller since it launched, and I've never seen it drop this low before.

The Victrix Pro BFG is my favorite controller for PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC, and to see it reduced to £99.99 at Amazon feels just plain wrong, especially when Turtle Beach has refreshed it with Hall effect sensors and a higher price tag. I'm not sure you need the Reloaded model, though. I've been using this original PS5 version of the BFG for years, and I've never run into any stick drift that makes me want to throw the peripheral at my display.

I haven't seen the Victrix Pro BFG any cheaper than this, and according to its price history data, it's only been this affordable once before, and I think that might be a blip in the price data because it's saying it was £22 at some point. That honestly can't be right, so I'm going to say this is a record-low price. Even this long after its release in 2023, it still has an average price at Amazon of £140, so this is a really substantial saving I wouldn't expect to see often.

For an officially licensed PS5 controller you can modify and shape to your liking, £99 feels like an amazing deal. The Victrix Pro BFG has more functionality than the DualSense Edge, for example, which you'll seldom find below £200. The alternative is shooting for newer rivals like the Razer Raiju V3 Pro, which seems happy to stick to its launch price of £199.

It feels as though this deal can't be making a profit, no matter how bad the markup on officially licensed PlayStation controllers is. I actually wouldn't be surprised if that was the case, and this discount is just a ploy to get rid of the last remaining batches of stock for the OG model of the BFG. With that out of the way, people will have no choice but to buy the pricier Reloaded version, and reviewers like me will need to default to pointing you toward it as opposed to this cheaper model, which really isn't missing much in the way of specs and features in comparison.

But why is the Victrix Pro BFG such a standout product in the controller market? So much so to be awarded the top spot on our best Xbox Series X controller guide and our best PC controller guide. For me, it all comes down to its modular design, how much you get in its carry case, and how its four generously sized back buttons make it easy to gain extra functionality in the games you play.

What's a modular design, I hear you ask? It means the facial elements of the controller (the thumbsticks, the buttons, and the D-pad) can all be picked up, flipped around, and put back in place. In simple terms, that means you can change this from an Xbox-style offset thumbstick pad to one that's symmetrical and authentic to PlayStation. But when you combine that design with the goodies you get in the box, the BFG takes on a whole new power level.

There are swappable thumbstick heights, there's a fightpad module for fighting games, there are different shapes of stick gates, and in essence, loads of ways to make this the perfect controller for you. Other pads might offer you one or two of those adjustments, but the Victrix Pro BFG offers you so much, and at this price, that's unmatchable by any other controller.
