The Switch 2 might be getting more expensive, but games like Star Fox are dropping to record lows even before launch

Plenty of Switch 2 exclusives are experiencing record-low prices while the cost of the handheld itself is set to soar.

Star Fox on the Nintendo Switch 2 has already dropped to $49.94 at Amazon, and it's not expected to launch until June 25 later this year. It's one of the top cheap Nintendo Switch game deals I've stumbled across in 2026, as you're not just saving $10, but snagging a price that's even cents cheaper than the digital version. Sure, it's just a few cents off its $49.99 digital pricing, but that means you're spending the same amount for the full game on a card and that shiny red Switch 2 game box.

Amazon has been rolling out (or barrel roll-ing if you will) these pre-launch Switch 2 game deals for the last couple of weeks. I'm not complaining, though I'm definitely surprised. Usually, you can expect to see the online retailer giant posting pre-orders for a couple of dollars less than the MSRP, sure. But $10 less for a wide variety of Switch 2 games that aren't even out yet? It's strange, but in the best way possible.

Just last week, I spotted that both Yoshi and the Mysterious Book and Splatoon Raiders were at record low prices at Amazon, and again, they aren't available yet. The upcoming Yoshi game has an $69.99 MSRP, but adding it to your Amazon basket even now reveals it's actually $59.88. Meanwhile, Splatoon Raiders has the same $59.99 MSRP as Star Fox, but it's also down to just $49.94 instead.

If you just grabbed a Nintendo Switch 2 as you didn't want to deal with the price increase later in the year, I fully recommend picking up Star Fox and any other Switch 2 exclusives at Amazon before these prices disappear for good. Who knows if they will be here to stay, or are set to disappear once the release dates come into view.

As a heads-up, picking up your Star Fox pre-order at Amazon comes with the caveat that you will miss out on the bonus gifts often supplied by Nintendo. That's why I spent a little more at Nintendo UK to secure my Star Fox pin-set and velcro patch. However, $10 saved is cash you could put towards some merch of Fox and the gang in the future - especially as there seems to be more of that on its way.
