How to get the Bioscanner in Subnautica 2
You'll need a Subnautica 2 Bioscanner in order to unlock additional Biomods like Camouflage and Water Secretion
The Subnautica 2 Bioscanner is a crucial item used to reveal valuable information about the underwater wildlife so you can use it to your advantage. Using it allow you to unlock a number of handy active and passive Biomods - but you might be having trouble getting your scanner to work.
This is because the Bioscanner is actually an upgraded version of the standard scanner you fabricate in the early game, and without this important modification, your scanner won't unlock Biomods. You even need to go and rescan creatures you've already processed with your basic scanner in order for them to count, so here's how to get the Subnautica 2 Bioscanner modification.
How to get the Subnautica 2 Bioscanner mod
To get the Subnautica 2 Bioscanner, you must first find one located in a Cicada Wreck in the third area of the map. It's easy to find once you progress enough that the PDA shows you the location of Iso's Black Box.
Using a Repair Tool, fix the door blocking your entrance, then follow the path through the wreckage. If you get stuck, look for vents in the floor or holes in the wall. In the final room (which is horribly disconcerting due to being sideways), you'll find the Bioscanner sitting just by the exit door.
Like many other blueprints unlocks in the survival game, scanning the Bioscanner here unlocks the blueprint for you to craft your own. However, rather than a standard blueprint, this is the blueprint for a modification to your existing scanner.
Once you've unlocked the Bioscanner modification, you need a Modification Station and the following crafting ingredients:
- Your scanner
- 2x Enameled Glass
- 3x Conduit Crystals
Luckily, if you're having any trouble with these, I've got guides on finding Conduit Crystals and crafting Enameled Glass in Subnautica 2 to help you out. If you haven't unlocked the Modification Station blueprint yet, you'll also find one of those in the same Cicada Wreck as the Bioscanner, just before the vent, and there's another in the Visitor Center back near the lifepod.
Weekly digests, tales from the communities you love, and more
With your new modification installed, you can now use your Bioscanner to unlock the secrets of the creatures and alien technology surrounding you. Then, scan Subnautica 2 leviathans, Sandspears, and more to unlock some of the best Subnautica 2 Biomods.
