Battlefield 6 update fixes aim assist by reverting it back to Open Beta settings, but some players want more drastic changes: "The whole game/weapons need to be rebalanced"
The latest Battlefield 6 update is now live, and it's a doozy. Besides bringing the California Resistance additions of Season 1, the patch addresses some latent glitches and tweaks aim assist, though the latter is proving slightly divisive.
To start, Eastwood, a map themed around sunny Southern California, is now live, with slight differences across various modes. Rodeo has been added to Gauntlet, and Sabotage is a new mode, playable for a limited time. The DB-12 Shotgun and M357 Trait Sidearm are now selectable weapons, as well.
But, like any of Battlefield 6's patches, the real juicy stuff is in the fixes and alterations. There are a lot of minor changes, sorting out glitches and fine-tuning the experience. Aim assist, a recurring theme of player complaints, has been reverted to an earlier state.

"After reviewing player feedback and gameplay data, we're reverting aim assist back to the values some of you experienced during Open Beta and Battlefield Labs," the patch notes read. "This will now serve as the default, whilst still providing you with the ability to alter the aim assist to your preference and playstyle via settings."
Members of the community believe this may cause more problems. "I think more reduction in spread/dispersion is actually bad for the game and might now feel very similar to 2042 where you could beam people out to 150m+ no problem," one player states.
"Core multiplayer is close to unplayable right now from the changes to spread/accuracy in the last patch," another tweet says. "The whole game/weapons need to be rebalanced with more extreme damage fall off."
Concern lies in other changes we've been told are coming around bullet dispersal. "It might be cooked because another bloom bug is getting fixed too on top of the overall reduction of bloom. Some guns are going to feel insane now," another Twitter user adds.

Feedback will come thick and fast now these tweaks are live, and we'll see what the next Battlefield 6 patch has to offer.
