Soldier Boy star Jensen Ackles confirms The Boys spin-off show Vought Rising has wrapped filming: "It’s been an absolute thrill ride"

The Boys season 5 is just around the corner and will bring the superhero satire to a close. But it's not the end for our favorite unhinged supe Soldier Boy, as he will return in the upcoming prequel series Vought Rising, which has just wrapped filming.

Soldier Boy star Jensen Ackles took to Instagram to confirm that the spin-off show has finished filming, posting a video. Well, for now. The caption reads, "Finishing out with a bang! It’s been an absolute thrill ride. Thanks to the crew, cast, and all those who gave so much time and energy to make this happen. You’re all a bunch of psychos…and I love you for it." In the video, Ackles gives us a sneak peek at the bottom half of his Vought Rising suit, which looks a little different from his get-up in The Boys. The new suit includes bright green trousers with red accessories and boots, which is a little different from his deep green and gold outfit in the main show. We have already seen the first look at the top half of Soldier Boy's new suit in the spin-off, which includes a long green coat and black mask.

The suit is different because Vought Rising is set decades before The Boys, so Soldier Boy will be shown in his more traditional wear. Vought Rising, which has been described as a murder mystery about the origins of Vought, takes us back to the '50s and follows the exploits of Soldier Boy and Stormfront. The show will also introduce us to a new string of retro supes, such as Bombsight, Private Angel, and Torpedo.

Minus the new outfits, the two main supes will look more or less exactly the same as they do almost 70 years on, as they were both injected with an early version of Compound V and cannot age. We learn just how old Soldier Boy and Stormfront really are in the main show, and it was revealed that Stormfront was operating in the Second World War.
