New Star Wars: The Last Jedi art shows Luke Skywalker's thousand-yard stare

This year’s Star Wars Celebration takes place in Orlando, Florida and begins in just ten days, and some new artwork from the convention has emerged that gives us a good look at Mark Hamill’s Luke Skywalker as he appears in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Check out this T-shirt (via DorkSide):

That’s Luke, staring off into space. (Get it? Space? Because it’s Star Wars? Never mind.)

Disney and Lucasfilm are making it incredibly difficult for fans to speculate about what’s going to happen to Luke in this new movie, because not only have we not seen any trailers yet, but the images we’ve seen have all been of him wearing similar clothing to what we saw him wearing at the end of The Force Awakens. The only thing we can surmise – and again, this is pure speculation on my part – is that this may be a hint that we could see Luke showing signs of PTSD in the new movie. That would make a lot of sense: the dude has seen some serious shit over the course of his lifetime, and he blames himself for Kylo Ren’s fall to the dark side. Seeing a more damaged version of Luke would be a fascinating evolution for his character, and would provide some interesting material for him to work through instead of just spending the movie training Daisy Ridley’s Rey.

What do you think? Am I onto something here? If you’re interested in this, you can also read 7 things we want to see at Star Wars Celebration and check out reactions to The Last Jedi footage from Cinemacon.

Directed by Rian Johnson and starring Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, and Mark Hamill, Star Wars: The Last Jedi arrives in theaters on December 15, 2017.
