It's shocking, possibly criminal, that Bird Strike is yet to make it into this site's most hallowed hall of fame. Bird Strike is, without a doubt, one of the premier iPhone games, and few would argue that it's an absolute must-have for anybody with a i-device and a lick of common sense.
Climbing games are few and far between, whether they're platform bouncers like Doodle Jump or collect-a-thons like Mega Jump. Bird Strike is a blend of both, as squeaky voiced Gerald grabs rockets in order to soar the heavens and reach his goal.
The main mode of play is World Tour, in which Gerald faces a variety of stages and has to meet a score requirement in order to pass. The aim is to get Gerald as high as possible, using rockets to ascend and avoiding obstacles such as girders and balloons. Once he reaches high enough, a UFO will blast him back down to earth, and players use Gerald's descent to rack up even more points.
Like all good iPhone games, it's simple, addictive, and becomes incrementally more challenging. As well as World Tour, there's an endless mode for players who just want to see how high they can get. With all manner of obstacles and a variety of cool power-ups, Bird Strike has plenty of fun packed into a great looking little title, and at a price that can't be beat.
If you don't have Bird Strike on your iPhone already, you're possibly demented.
