A marketing firm known for working with Ubisoft has teased images (via Kotaku) of a possible new Rayman game in the style of last year's Rayman Origins, suggesting a sequel to the critical darling may be close to announcement. The new screens show Michel Ancel's character in a bunch of new environments, doing what he does best: jumping, standing, and defying God's own laws of physics with a steadfast refusal to grow any damn limbs.
Rayman Origins was on our list of the top 7 overlooked games of 2011, and we were all set to finally forget Okami and make Ancel's masterpiece the butt of all future “you didn't buy this and now you can't have nice things” jokes – until, according to Ubisoft, Rayman Origins turned a profit and showed long-term potential. Which was about the best way we could think of to be proved wrong, as it increases the likelihood of these screens leading to a real game at some point – and lends lists like Five reasons you suck if you don't play Okami the lasting relevance they deserve. Thank goodness for that.
