The Russo brothers are officially Marvel’s golden boys, with Badass Digestreporting that the duo have signed a deal to direct both parts of Avengers: Infinity War.
Having directed Captain America: The Winter Soldier, the duo are about to begin filming on Captain America: Civil War, and will now get the chance to carry on the saga into the next two Avengers films.
The report claims that Civil War will lead directly into Infinity War, which is why the studio is thought to be so keen to establish some similar continuity behind the camera.
Should this move be officially confirmed, it will probably signal the end of Joss Whedon’s Marvel period, with Avengers: Age Of Ultron likely to be the director’s swansong.
Avengers: Infinity War will be split into two parts, with both films set to shoot back to back through 2016 and 2017. The first half is slated to hit cinemas in May 2018, before part two arrives exactly one year later.
