Capcom has confirmed a Lost Planet 3 release date of June 26 in North America, June 27 in Japan and June 28 in Europe.
The publisher has also released a new batch of screenshots alongside images of the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC game’s box art, which you can see above.
The open-world sci-fi shooter is a prequel which promises to reveal new truths about the history of the series' icy planet E.D.N. III. Players take on the role of Jim, a rig pilot who leaves Earth to take on a hazardous but lucrative contract with a construction firm preparing the planet for colonisation. It’s his job to survey treacherous uncharted terrain and obtain samples of the planet’s energy supply while dealing with the threat of the indigenous Akrid, a hideous race of reptilian insectoids.
Watch us strap ourselves into Jim’s rig (giant robot) and drill some holes in alien bugs in this Lost Planet 3 gameplay footage from last year’s Tokyo Game Show. And find out more about the game in this first-look Lost Planet 3 preview.
