Street Fighter 6 is getting the Final Fantasy 7 Tifa crossover Tekken fans have always wanted
Tifa joins Street Fighter 6 early next year
Street Fighter fans are getting the exact thing Tekken players have been demanding for years: Final Fantasy 7's Tifa Lockhart is joining the roster in an official Capcom x Square Enix crossover.
Tifa joined the fun at Summer Game Fest in an anime-style trailer debuting Street Fighter 6's Year 4 roster additions. In addition to Tifa, who joins the roster early 2027, Street Fighter 6 is adding two new fighters, Yasmine and Arjun, as well as Bosch, who was a non-playable character in World Tour.
But let's be real, this is the Tifa show, even though I'm disappointed to say we didn't get to see any gameplay or even any real suggestions of what her move set might be. Just a cute little anime vignette that shows her smiling and clutching her right wrist.
At the end of the reveal, we see some official artwork showing Tifa in her iconic white-and-black crop top look from the games, rendered in Street Fighter 6 graphics. This is seemingly what she'll look like in the fighting game collab, although it's also safe to assume she'll have different costumes to choose from.
It's hard not to report this news without feeling some sympathy for the Tekken community, who have been hoping against hope for Tifa to become a playable character for so long that it's become a meme online. To see the game's biggest competitor secure the crossover without even trying has gotta sting. Maybe one day, Tekken fans, but realistically now that Tifa's coming to Street Fighter, probably not.

After earning an English degree from ASU, I worked as a corporate copy editor while freelancing for places like SFX Magazine, Screen Rant, Game Revolution, and MMORPG on the side. I got my big break here in 2019 with a freelance news gig, and I was hired on as GamesRadar's west coast Staff Writer in 2021. That means I'm responsible for managing the site's western regional executive branch, AKA my home office, and writing about whatever horror game I'm too afraid to finish.
