Some Xbox users discovered that their pre-order for Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight allowed them to boot up the game over a week before launch.
Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is set to launch on May 22, or May 19 for those who paid for the Deluxe edition of the game, but one user on the legogaming subreddit noticed they could boot the game up right away on Xbox. The user explained, "I just pre-ordered the new Lego Batman Legacy Of The Dark Knight game and when I did they let me download it and everything so after It gave me to notifications that it 'was ready to start' I clicked on it and this happened is this supposed to happen or am I playing it early or something."
Soon, users in the comments pieced together info about the early release from the user and figured out that anyone who purchased a code from Walmart in the US was given a code for the game that would allow them to start playing right away, as opposed to a code that would simply grant them the license for preloading purposes and unlock when the game was released. However, people who have tried the trick since are reporting that it has been patched and no longer works.

And while many in the subreddit are jealous that the user will be getting a week more with the game than the rest of us, they assured that people need not be jealous. "I don't really want to play it rn I want to play when it comes out so I experience it with everyone else," they say. It's certainly a surprise, given that most games with early copies in the wild are swiftly shared all over the internet, as we saw with Resident Evil Requiem. This hero, meanwhile, doesn't even want to tell people how it runs to avoid leaks. Of course, since others have had their hands on the game since, you may want to play on the safe side to avoid any spoilers, regardless.
James Gunn says Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight will let players experience the character "maybe as fully as they ever have."
