The Game of Thrones spin-offs are still very much up in the air – until we’ve finished our time with the main series, that is – so any scrap of information is more welcome than a ray of sunshine in winter. As luck would have it, a Game of Thrones spin-off writer has gotten (too?) chatty and outlined what to expect from their potential show.
Jane Goldman, speaking to Digital Spy, opened up about the possibilities surrounding her show – essentially promising lots of laughs and pints and pints of blood.
That sounds like a winning combination, which Goldman teases after being asked about her track record, and whether we’ll see the same in her Thrones spin-off script: "I don't know if I'm allowed to say, but I would say yeah! Those [humour and gore] are things I love, and things I like to do. It would be remiss of me not to put them in.”
Otherwise, though, Goldman is remaining tight-lipped, "I am just writing ideas and outlining some things. I really can't say very much about it, but yeah, it's all going well. I'm having lots of fun making stuff up!"
Goldman has previous with laugh-out-loud moments coupled with buckets of the red stuff having wrote both Kingsman movies, Kick-Ass, as well as X-Men: First Class and X-Men: Days of Future Past. That’s quite a CV, and a hint of what might be still to come…
The spin-off process is a minefield of misinformation at this stage but we do know that Game of Thrones will only have one spin-off because “the bar is so high” and that any trip back to Westeros (or beyond) would be a “recognisable... past event.”

I'm the Senior Entertainment Writer here at GamesRadar+, focusing on news, features, and interviews with some of the biggest names in film and TV. On-site, you'll find me marveling at Marvel and providing analysis and room temperature takes on the newest films, Star Wars and, of course, anime. Outside of GR, I love getting lost in a good 100-hour JRPG, Warzone, and kicking back on the (virtual) field with Football Manager. My work has also been featured in OPM, FourFourTwo, and Game Revolution.
