Beloved Lex Luthor fan account pays tribute to The Boys villain in the most on-brand way
Villains support villains, we love to see it
The Boys season 5 came to an end this week with a fiery series finale, which finally put to bed the ongoing battle between Billy Butcher and Homelander. However, in a bizarre turn of events, it looks like Superman villain Lex Luthor is sad to see who won the final fight.
Warning, the following contains spoilers for The Boys season 5 episode 8.
Well, it has finally happened, Homelander has been defeated by none other than Butcher and his crowbar. Many of us are glad to see the tyrannical monster go. However, this doesn't include those working at LuthorCorp, aka Superman villain Lex Luthor's technology business. The beloved Twitter fan account posted a touching tribute to Homelander, calling him "a true American hero and a friend to us all."
The tweet reads, "Homelander was more than just a symbol; he was a protector, an inspiration, and he was a cherished friend of our CEO, Lex Luthor. Let his legacy inspire us to build a brighter future, a world where hope triumphs over despair, and where heroes like Homelander are never forgotten. Rest in peace, Homelander."
Now, we are sure that this is just a bit of fun, and doesn't mean there is a crossover between James Gunn's DCU and The Boys, as it's just fan-generated after all. However, it is nice to see LuthorCorp carry on the tradition of the equally beloved Boys' in-universe Twitter Page and its rival Vought International, which would regularly post updates based on what happened in the show, as if it were real life.
LuthorCorp has since doubled down on its support for Homelander, tweeting, "Please be careful of all the Starlighters in the comments trying to tarnish his legacy. Homelander will always be our own American hero!" LuthorCorp even involved the Man of Steel, adding, "We also have reason to believe that William Butcher who was responsible for the death of Homelander was working with the alien criminal SUPERMAN!"
However, we expect LuthorCorp's Twitter page to change its tune once the Superman sequel, Man of Tomorrow, hits screens on July 9, 2027, which will see Luthor and Superman team up against a new enemy. As for Vought International's Twitter page, we expect the meta tweets to keep rolling in and The Boys spin-off show Vought Rising enges closer to screens in 2027, following the first set of V-One Supes created by Frederick Vought in the '50s.
