Emma goes hip-hop

It’s an old story – take a timeless tale penned by the likes of William Shakespeare or Jane Austen. Give it a dip in high school remake sauce and voila! One crispy-fried, brand new movie that the kids across all quadrants will just eat up at the box office.

Austen’s Emma has already been given the high school touch with Clueless, but now it’s going the way of Step Up. Screen Gems has gotten the script written as a hip-hop musical that will feature at least 15 songs.

“Now it's urban," the studio’s chief Clint Culpepper told Variety. "This is the way it should be re-imagined in the new millennium."

There’s no word on a cast or director yet, but Variety just got served .
