Recent updates

September 12, 2025: We updated the locations of Fortnite characters to add Green Ranger and remove the four NPCs who could be hired.

The roster of Fortnite characters has had an unusual shake up at this point during the Shock 'N Awesome season, with new arrival Green Ranger landing just in time for the Community Quest taking place to summon the rest of the team and form Megazord. However, all of the characters you could hire previously have been removed, meaning that Cuddle Team Leader, Meowscles, Peely, and Triggerfish are nowhere to be seen.

The services these Fortnite NPCs offer have been greatly streamlined, with most now providing Healing and Rifts as standard so long as you meet the required OXR Rank – though if they're fighting bugs then you'll need to neutralize the threat before you can interact with them. They also don't have any Fortnite new weapons to sell, so you'll have to track those down yourself.

This gives us a total of 14 characters to find across the island, and while this number of NPCs is already quite large a lot of them are in close proximity to each other, which means there are some considerable areas of the map that currently aren't covered while others such as OXR HQ are particularly busy! Interact with any of them you meet to receive useful items and have the chance to purchase hard-to-find weapons, as well as being able to invest in services to get a competitive edge over your rivals.

Watch out for the Scout, Heavy, Supply, and Medic Specialists when available, who are denoted by a specific icon and can be hired during matches, as they each offer a unique set of skills and can be issued with Fortnite commands to deploy them strategically, gaining you a tactical advantage. Scouts can mark targets and snipe them from distance, Heavies are immune to fire and throw explosives, Supplies keep you topped up with ammo, while Medics provide healing and even revival where possible. It's likely that future quests will require particular characters to complete them, so it pays to know their locations in advance to quickly track down and meet them when it counts.

In a throwback to previous seasons, certain characters have been made responsible for handing out parts of the Story Fortnite quests, which continues through Shock 'N Awesome so it still pays to know their locations. They'll also give you handy items for free when you meet, as well as selling services such as healing your injuries, or rifting you into the sky. If you want to benefit from their abilities, then you'll need to know where to find these 14 different NPCs.

Fortnite characters accept payment in the form of Fortnite gold bars, which you can spend with them on weapons, items, and useful services. Because the world of Fortnite is so large you might not stumble upon them by accident, so follow my guide to all of the Fortnite characters locations and you'll be meeting up with these elusive NPCs in no time.

There are currently 14 official Fortnite characters, and you can keep track of the ones you've met so far by visiting the Characters tab on the Quests screen in-game – which is also accessible through the Collections option under the Quests tab in the lobby. They currently only spawn in one specific location each meaning no roaming characters, so I've marked all of the Fortnite characters locations I've encountered on the map. Bear in mind that if another player has hired or eliminated them, that will remove the character from their location.

You'll know when you're close to one as you'll see a speech bubble on your map, as well as on your screen above their head which you can see through walls – this is replaced with a specific Hire icon for characters you can recruit to fight by your side. Interact with them and the first time you meet you'll add them to your Collection, with a confirmation appearing on screen. This list shows where all of the Fortnite characters can be discovered:

  • 1) Agent Patch - OXR HQ (west side)
  • 2) Daigo - OXR Base Alpha (northeast of The Hive)
  • 3) Yoo-mi - OXR Base Epsilon (north of Canyon Crossing)
  • 4) Jade - OXR Base Theta (north of Outpost Enclave)
  • 5) Kendo - OXR Base Theta (north of Outpost Enclave)
  • 6) Mizuki - OXR Base Epsilon (north of Canyon Crossing)
  • 7) The Night Rose - OXR Base Alpha (northeast of The Hive)
  • 8) Shadow Blade Hope - Supernova Academy (southeast building basement)
  • 9) Onyx Winter - OXR HQ (west side)
  • 10) Lt. Ripp Slade - OXR HQ (west side)

  • 11) Vengeance Jones - Supernova Academy (southeast building basement)
  • 12) Battle Gamer Mae - OXR HQ (east side)
  • 13) Championship Surf Witch - Shogun's Solitude (southwest side)
  • 14) Green Ranger - OXR HQ (north side)
