This trailer confused me. What exactly was Master Chief doing? By his slow pace and the cloak he was wearing, it didn't look like he was on any kind of mission or under the command of the UNSC. But if that's the case, then why was he wearing his armor? Maybe I'm looking too deep into a measly teaser, but still...

*SPOILER ALERT* At the end of Season 1 of Spartan Ops it is shown that Halsey is now working with the Covenant Rebellion. I'd assume whether he was ordered to, or not, he is going after her. He must be stranded on the planet or something, as it is safe to assume that he upgraded armor after Halo 4. He hadn't taken it off since before the beginning of Halo 2 when he upgraded armor then. They made a big point to show his armor being taken off at the end of Halo 4. Just imagine how bad his armor must smell. He wore that armor straight for 4 years. He fell through atmosphere with that armor twice, he has killed thousands of alien being and been sprayed with blood and guts. It appears that he has been on that planet for awhile, as the sand has worn away at the paint on his armor, and the visor of his helmet is cracked. He is wearing that cloak as he is tired of sand getting in every nook and cranny of his suit, and having to thus clean it out so he can make sure the suit remains operable.

One crusial plothole with Halo is that it never explains how he goes to the bathroom, like, its not like he can just pull down his trousers and take a wizz xD

I assume that there is some sort of compartment where his wastes go that he can empty out, like astronauts have in their space suits.

Didn't his armor evolve between Halo 3 and 4 or something? So maybe it doesn't smell as bad?

The reason the armor looks different between Halo 3 and Halo 4 is because they have different Artists. The head of the armor design artwork from Halo 1, 2, 3, ODST, and Reach stayed with Bungie. That is why the Destiny Armor looks very Halo. After MC escapes Installation 04, and saves the day on Reach again, he is upgraded to the new armor that had just finished development down on Reach before they were attacked. From there he wears it throughout Halo 2, and hitches around aboard a Covenant Ship headed towards Earth. He is discovered and captured on this ship where they attempted to torture him, though they couldn't remove his armor. MC escapes, and jumps out of an Airlock in the upper atmosphere of Earth, where he lands and the events of Halo 3 happen. Then he is locked into the Cryo-Tube til Halo 4. While he is in there, Cortana upgrades the suit's "OS", and does various other improvements on how the shields operate, etc. At the end of Halo 4, they show MC hooked up to a machine that takes off his suit.
