Someone at the Marvel offices really likes Creed.
The Rocky spin-off's director Ryan Coogler is currently working on Black Panther's solo film, and now Creed actress Tessa Thompson has joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
According to Deadline, Thompson has landed a role in Thor: Ragnarok. While there's no specific details as to who she'll be playing, the report does state that she'll be playing Chris Hemsworth’s "love interest" and will be a "kind of superhero and will appear in other Marvel films", which has led plenty to speculate that she may have been cast as Valkyrie.
I'm a big fan of this news; Thompson was great in both Creed and Dear White People, so I'm excited to see how she'll fit in to the MCU. The Hollywood Reporter have also confirmed that Natalie Portman - who played Thor's love interest in previous MCU films - won't be returning for Thor: Ragnarok, which has me thinking that the film won't be spending much time on Midgard next time round.
Considering everything that's currently happening on Earth that's probably for the best, as I'm pretty sure we can all agree this is probably what Thor would think about Iron Man and Captain America's civil war...

Directed by Taika Waititi and starring Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Jaimie Alexander, Tessa Thompson, and Mark Ruffalo, Thor: Ragnarok will be released in UK cinemas on October 27, 2017 before opening in US theatres on November 3, 2017.
