Mission Impossible - The Game gets Ghost Protocol add-on

Funtactix's Mission: Impossible – The
Game has been updated with a new level based on Ghost Protocol, the
upcoming fourth movie in the series. Starting today, players and
newcomers alike can access the new content, whose storyline features
events which take place in the lead-up to Ghost Protocol ahead of the movie's launch
later in the month.

Mission: Impossible – The Game, which
Funtactix proudly says is Facebook's first movie-based social gaming
app (though we sort of doubt that), casts players in the role of IMF spies tasked with completing
over 200 missions based throughout the world of the movies. Mission:
Impossible games haven't tended to do well with critics or audiences
– due perhaps in part to star Tom Cruise's long-standing (and
characteristically odd) aversion to appearing within the medium.
However, between this and Paramount's deal with Microsoft,
which sees MI:GP cross-promoted with Gears of War 3, the films'
popularity with game fans is finally seeing some leverage – which,
if you're a fan of either property, is no bad thing.
Here's a look at some of the Ghost
Protocol-specific content added to the game today. Besides seeing some of the game's new areas, think of it as an isometric, Sims-ish preview of some of the
movie's sights before its nationwide launch on December 21.
