GTA 5: New screens, Los Santos looks huge, development is "going well"

Rockstar offers new shots from Grand Theft Auto V, promises more info soon

Here we go. Two new screenshots from GTA 5. This one:

And this one:

These pics are the first we've seen of GTA V since the release of the debut trailer last November and the aerial shot is the best view we've had yet for really showing off the immense scale of Los Santos. It looks suitably huge and sprawling.

Both pics were 'sneaked out' by Rockstar as part of a Q&A on its Newswire. It commented that development on the next GTA is "going well, but the game is a huge project." Rockstar also promised new information and assets would be coming soon.

The gameplay definitely needs to go back to the cartoonish style of GTA 3 - San Andreas. Real world physics are great, but not if they impact on gameplay in a bad way

I am excited for this game but bummed that there is no way this is releasing this year. The rumor's are that this will be present at Gamescom in August which means there is no time to market it even a little bit before they would release in October. Sleeping Dogs would be me busy. I am actually pretty excited for that game. Looks promising.

Well, Rockstar doesn't usually follow the rules of game development, to be fair. I could see GTA V getting through on a small advertising campaign, because GTA games have never really had massive ad campaigns. Also, it's motherf***ing GTA, everyone knows about it, so they don't really need to advertise as much as other franchises. Look at RDR; I remember little to no advertising for that game. I remember IV had some, but not that much.

as long as it has planes, and is less serious than gta4 by a measure of like 200%, then i'm all in.

Just Cause 2 is about 400% less serious. Does that count?

JC2 is a stone cold classic of this generation. severely underrated and underplayed. if GTA5 was even a third of the game that JC2 was, i'd be blown away.

If you're looking for a serious storyline, I guess GTA would be the better option. If you're looking for "holy shit I just tookout half a base by using a helicopter to drop an airlplane into a pile of C4," There's no better option than Just Cause.

That is looking amazing :) Can't wait to explore it! I'm sticking by my previous predictions though and guessing a Spring 2013 release (At it's earliest! Maybe even later in 2013)

Platforms still not officially confirmed, but it's 100% a 'this-gen' release.

Those shots look sweet and well representative of my home city. Can't wait to play this, regardless of what generation console it is released on.
