New skins, multiplayer environments, bragging tools, and leveling options have arrived for Gears of War 3 players thanks to the release of the Fenix Rising Map Pack.
Available now on Xbox Live, the third major add-on for Epic's third-person shooter is selling for 800 Microsoft Points ($10), or free for season pass holders. The DLC features five new maps—Anvil, Death, Escalation, Academy, and the Slab—as well as four fresh character skins for use in Versus Multiplayer and Horde Mode, including good guys Recruit Clayton and Thrashball Cole (Limited Edition), and bad guys Savage Marauder and Savage Kantus (Limited Edition).
Fenix Rising also throws a new “re-up” option into the mix. Players who purchase the DLC will be able to reset their experience and rank at level 100, and work their way back up to the top a maximum of three times. Those who choose to “re-up” will be rewarded each time they hit the 100 mark with Red, Green, and then Gold colored wings; as well as special weapon skins that can only be unlocked through this time-consuming process.
To get fans excited for the release of its newest Gears of War 3 expansion, Microsoft and Epic have released images of the character skins on offer. They've also thrown in a few more shots of the new maps to help you get a lay of the land before you're scraping yourself off of it in small, unidentifiable chunks.
