Gears of War 3 Forces of Nature video tour - Are the new maps and weapons worth buying?

The only thing more abundant than shooters these days are the countless DLC map packs that inevitably follow in their wake. How do you keep them all straight? And more importantly, how do you know which are actually worth your money?

Gears of War 3’s latest expansion, Forces of Nature, makes the first question easy to answer. For $10, you get five new maps that are unlike any others in the game. To see exactly how, and to find out if we think Forces of Nature is a must for fans, watch our video analysis:

Forces of Nature is available now for 1200 Microsoft points, or $10. If you bought the Gears of War 3 season pass, it’s free as a part of that package.

I came back on the other day just to download it, since it's "free" to me. Like always, not disappointed. Gears of War 3 is my favorite competitive multiplayer for a reason, and their map design and aesthetics is a big part of it. It revisted a lot of the maps I love in Gears of War 1 and 2, and damn if they aren't better than ever. All in all, love them. My bright purple guns do a lot to, erm, color my experience more.

Logged back on to Gears after a couple of months and was really surprised to see that there are no dedicated severs for those of us who don't want to or can't buy these map packs. I know some people will say otherwise, but I'm already paying a Gold subscription and there were dedicated servers at launch, so why can't they keep it up?

So, no more story content then? That season pass feels like wasted money now, they've just jacked up the price of multiplayer maps to make us feel like we saved money.

It seems like all the weather does is make it a pain in the ass to see. I know he said there was earthquakes and flooded areas in one of the maps, but is that it? Like, are there any lightning strikes, razor hail, or hurricanes that can kill you?

Yeah, like the previous poster said, 1200 is $15. The pack sells for 800.

    Umm...1200 Microsoft Points is $15.
