We all thought it was a great idea when Double Fine's Tim Schafer took to Kickstarter to raise funds for a new point-'n'-click adventure title. After all, the idea came with the blessing not only of the Psychonauts maestro himself but of Markus “Notch” Persson, the anointed Nicest Man In Modern Videogaming. But in a series of scandalous new photos, shown at GDC and obtained by VentureBeat, Schafer's finally shown his true, fan-abusing, money-squandering colors.

We don't want to say we told you so, so we won't: after all, while Dave H found time to raise a few questions regarding the campaign's wider implications, even his patented brand of well-informed cynicism turned out to fall far short of the mark here. Tim Schafer is a monster who must be stopped before he wreaks more havoc.

Or we could just let him keep the money and see what he does with it. The dev says he'll still be putting it all into the promised title, and giving us a series of documentary shorts to show the title's progress. In the meantime, does anyone know if Double Fine is hiring? Word is those guys have a bit of cash to throw around...

As a matter of fact they are hiring a finance controller. And none too soon from the looks of things. I want to work for this company....

These are absolutely hilarious! Not to mention that pose next to the Grim Fandango cutout is spot-on. I wish someone would throw enough money at LucasArts to get the Loom sequels made, but whatever Schafer is coming up with is bound to be a thousand times better anyway.

That second picture is damn great! Nothing like hiding cash in your couch just in case the tax man drops by.

I will add this. It is nice to see one of the most creative minds in gaming actually being shown by his fans how much he is appreciated. It is extremely sad to see this man struggle to find funding for his brilliant games while dudebrahs like Cliffy B. can pretty much do whatever they want.

LOL Nice! Honestly, things I would do if I had dozens of Benjamins to just faff about with. What a funny guy. A personality befitting of a man set on making a new adventure game. It'll probably make me laugh my pants off. Kudos to him.
