Evangeline Lilly describes Ant-Man as "a heist film"

Evangeline Lilly has been speaking to CNN about her role in Marvel's forthcoming Ant-Man adaptation, describing it as "very much a heist film".

Lilly will be playing Janet Van Dyne, the daughter of Hank Pym and The Wasp, both of whom were founder-members of the Avengers in the comic-books…

"She is the daughter of the founders of the Avengers, Ant-Man and The Wasp," says Lilly. "She is a very talented, intelligent, capable woman and a force to be reckoned with."

"This one is very much a heist film," she continues. "It has all the fun, tension and drama of a good heist film. The heist is being masterminded by myself, my father and Scott Lang."

So just to clarify, it's a heist film. In all seriousness, it sounds like a savvy move from Marvel, who have occasionally been accused of producing slightly samey plotlines. Guardians went some way to answering that criticism, and Ant-Man looks set to help still further...

Directed by Peyton Reed and co-starring Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas and Corey Stoll, Ant-Man will open in the UK and the US on 17 July 2015.
