The best Warzone guns are vital to winning. But any sort of Warzone weapon tier list is a tricky thing to create because of the ability to customize weapons to your liking in Call of Duty Warzone. It allows you to tailor each gun to your playstyle, but with so many to choose from - and more since Black Ops Cold War added in its toys - it can be time consuming and overwhelming to try them all.
To win you’ll want to come equipped with a versatile weapon loadout and that means the best Warzone guns for however you prefer to play. The firefights that play out in Verdansk can happen from point blank range, to across the map at hundreds of meters away. With that in mind, we’ve compiled a list of the best weapons to use right now as part of season 2, taking account of the meta and the most recent update.

1. Kilo 141 assault rifle
Starting things off is the Warzone Kilo 141, a trusty assault rifle that has been a part of the game’s meta since Warzone launched. It’s sort of a quintessential weapon that works well in various situations, but most effective at medium to long range. Its biggest draw is its accuracy and low recoil, while featuring relatively decent bullet velocity - great for pulling off long range kills.
You’ll find that despite its moderately high rate of fire, the recoil is still manageable, giving you the best of both worlds. This is a weapon that falls into a happy medium, functioning well in many facets while not totally being a master of any situation. Still, it’s worth using because of its versatility, which you’ll find is key to coming out on top in Warzone.
2. CR-56 AMAX assault rifle
The Warzone CR-56 AMAX is for players who are more comfortable with high recoil weapons. If you can master this weapon’s kick, you’ll be at a major advantage due to its high damage output. It’s a little harder to use, but with the right attachments, you’ll have an easier time handling it.
Ideally, you’ll be using the AMAX at medium to long range, much like the Kilo. Though, you’ll find that the AMAX packs way more of a punch, giving you a faster time to kill (TTK). In terms of pure damage output, the AMAX is hard to beat from a practical standpoint, but it will take a bit of time to get used to. There’s a reason why so many of the pro players flock to this weapon.
3. Grau 5.56 assault rifle
Next up is the Warzone Grau 5.56, yet another assault rifle that excels at medium to long range. Its biggest strength is how easy it is to control, while still favoring high damage output even from afar. While it doesn’t pack as much of a punch as the AMAX, it’s way easier to control, meaning you’ll likely be able to land your shots more often.
The other benefit of the Grau is its moderately high rate of fire. This will help you secure close range eliminations, too. Of course, we always recommend to utilize this weapon at medium to long range, but in certain situations - especially when you don’t have another close range option - it’s nice to know the Grau still does well up close. Its versatility, ease of use, and rate of fire are all reasons to give this one a try, especially at long range.

4. FFAR 1 assault rifle
Hands down, the Warzone FFAR 1 is the best assault rifle in the game in terms of TTK. This doesn’t mean it’s easy to control, but if you can land your shots, you’ll be unstoppable. Since Warzone favors the most versatile weapons and loadouts, the FFAR is an ideal choice due to its extremely high rate of fire. In fact, its rate of fire rivals most SMGs in the game, so in almost all cases, we advise to use it from close to medium range.
Once again, this weapon is a bit harder to use since the rate of fire is so high. This leads to more recoil and if you aren’t good at controlling the weapon, it could leave you in a bad spot. But if you can connect with your shots, this thing is a monster and can easily wipe multiple players before needing to reload. Just make sure you’re using the largest magazine possible to get the most out of your bullets.

5. RAM-7 assault rifle
For our final assault rifle, we recommend the Warzone RAM-7, which is sort of like the FFAR 1 with a slower rate of fire but a higher damage output. On the surface, the FFAR seems better than the RAM in nearly every way, but when you consider how differently the two weapons feel and control, it’s easy to choose one over the other. In short, you’re more likely to land your shots with the RAM due to its slower rate of fire and ease of use.
If you happen to land all of your shots with the FFAR, you’ll obviously be in better shape, but pulling that off is much easier said than done. From a practical sense, the RAM is much more user friendly and takes less time to get used to, so we highly recommend giving it a try -- especially if you’re looking for an assault rifle that still has a high rate of fire.
6. Mac-10 SMG
Moving onto SMGs, let’s cover the Warzone Mac-10, a Cold War weapon with a tremendously fast rate of fire. It’s not quite as high as the FFAR, but it’s way easier to control and gives you more mobility due to it being an SMG. The Mac-10 excels up close and allows you to be nimble on your feet, thanks to its lightweight design.
Of course, you won’t be taking anyone out from afar with this weapon, but if you can manage to get within 10-15 meters of someone, you’ll likely win the gunfight. At the end of the day, it’s a toss up between this weapon and the FFAR, but the deciding factor should be movement speed and range. From a versatility point of view, the FFAR works in more situations, but if you pair the Mac with something like a sniper or tactical rifle, that might not matter much.

7. MP5 submachine gun
Both the Modern Warfare MP5 and the Cold War MP5 are fantastic choices for close to medium range. Without getting too far into the weeds of the differences between the two, we can sum it up by saying the either version of the Warzone MP5 is one of the most versatile SMGs in the game, that works nicely when paired with a long range weapon. It’s worth noting the Cold War MP5 has an ever-so-slightly faster TTK than the MW version, but has less range and mobility, so the difference is negligible.
With both versions of the MP5, their best features are its damage and ease of use, which allow it to be more effective at medium range than something like the Mac-10. The Mac-10 has a faster fire rate, but you’ll only reap the benefits of that if your shots connect. The MP5 is easier to control and for that, it ranks among one of the best weapons in the game.
We've got some Warzone MP5 builds here to give you a few ideas too.
8. Kar98k marksman rifle
Finally, let’s get into the best long range options, starting with the Warzone Kar98k marksman rifle. For all intents and purposes, this is a sniper and can be used as such. The nice thing about it is its mobility and damage, which can be combined to make it the most versatile sniper in the game. It doesn’t have the bullet velocity of one of the heavier snipers like the HDR, but it’s much more lightweight, making you faster on your feet.
Since the headshot damage is the same across many of the popular snipers and marksman rifles - the Kar98k included - you can get by with it, simply due to how fast its ADS and movement speeds are. In Warzone, speed and damage are key, which is why we recommend the Kar over any other sniper. Sure, it feels good to get snipes from across the map with the HDR, but planning for that to happen every match just isn’t practical. However, taking shots on the enemy in the next building over is more common, giving the Kar the upper hand.
9. AUG tactical rifle
For our final two weapons, we’re going to be looking at the main burst tactical rifles, starting with the Warzone AUG. This triple burst weapon is incredible at long range and can easily take down enemies with just a couple squeezes of the trigger. This Warzone AUG offers more flexibility than a sniper, since you don’t need to be as pinpoint accurate, while still giving you plenty of damage and a fast TTK.
If decked out correctly, the AUG can easily take out enemies from hundreds of meters away, thanks to its relatively high bullet velocity. The main issue is its recoil pattern, which is a little bit unpredictable compared to the other option (which we’ll cover below). Still, if you can get used to the recoil pattern, the AUG is a highly effective weapon that works well when paired with an SMG (or the FFAR).

10. M16 tactical rifle
Finally, for the other burst rifle option, let’s discuss the Warzone M16. It works similarly to the AUG, allowing you to take out your opponents from afar with just a few bursts. However, the M16 has a more predictable recoil pattern, which goes in one direction: Up. Since the recoil pattern is easier to control, you might opt to utilize this over the AUG, even though the M16 has a slightly slower TTK.
Once again, TTK only matters if you can land your shots, so you’ll want to take that into consideration when choosing between the M16 and the AUG. We should also mention that the M16 has a slightly faster ADS time, which is important in the heat of battle. Ultimately, both are fantastic weapons that have a lot in common - but their differences are noticeable. Whichever you choose, we recommend to pair it with an SMG so you’re covered at close range.
