The first trailer for Blade Runner 2049 re-introduces Deckard, 30 years later

The very first trailer for Blade Runner 2049 is here, and the only thing it's missing to excite fans of the original is an origami unicorn. We're really spoiled for info on the upcoming sequel now, because Warner Bros. Pictures has also revealed its official synopsis.

"Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years."

Well, if Deckard is still alive 30 years later, that rules out the "he's actually a Replicant" theory. Unless he's a longer-lived model than Roy Batty and company. And there's no sign of his definitely-a-Replicant paramour Rachael; it's too bad if she didn't live. But then again, who does?

Directed by Denis Villeneuve and starring Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright, Dave Bautista, Jared Leto, Mackenzie Davis, Barkhad Abdi, and Harrison Ford, Blade Runner 2 will be released in cinemas on October 6, 2017.
