Side Mission Characters, Part 1

The following characters are obtained by completing side missions…for other characters. Some of them will help you unlock other characters, and sometimes the character giving you the mission can be unlocked as well.

Note: Many of these characters won't appear until certain story missions are complete. In fact, the Guardians of the Galaxy don't show up until you finish the game. Thus, we recommend you complete the story mode before seeking out most of these characters.

Maria Hill

Maria is found aboard the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier. Climb to her perch and speak to her to start a race. Win to finish her first mission.

Look southeast from the tower to spot Maria again. This time, a bunch of A.I.M. agents attack the Helicarrier. Take them out to finish the mission.

Finally, you'll find Maria atop another tower near where you fought the A.I.M. agents. She's got another race for you; win to unlock her.

Silver Surfer

Silver Surfer is found on the northern edge of the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier, and he wants to race you. Use a flying character to take him on and win the race.

Silver Surfer is next found by the Baxter Building, marked by the Fantastic Four logo on the map. This time, he wants some Italian food. Follow the red studs to escort him to a restaurant in Little Italy, taking out the various enemies that appear along the way.

Silver Surfer can be found one last time by the car garage in East Harlem, and he's missing a piece of his board. Follow the red studs to find the thief who stole the piece; beat it off of him and return it to unlocked the Surfer.

Toad

Toad is found on the northern edge of the map, near the X-Mansion. For his first mission, simply bounce across lily pads he shows you, hitting the checkpoints as you go.

Toad is next found on the western edge of the Industrial District, along the waterfront. He's got more lily pads for you to bounce on, so hit the checkpoints again to complete this mission.

Toad's final mission can be found at the Statue of Liberty's pier. Bounce on the lily pad checkpoints one last time to unlock him.

Professor X

You'll find Professor X behind the X-Mansion. For his first mission, simply use a fire or laser-firing character on the gold plate nearby.

Professor X then moves to the hedge maze nearby, and he wants you to help a student get through it. Use a telekinetic character to control the student, and follow the stud arrows to the exit. You'll unlock Emma Frost after doing so.

Finally, you'll find Professor X on the other side of the lawn. Use a telekinetic character to reassemble the large X-Men logo. You'll unlock Professor X after this.

Heimdall

Heimdall can be found on the pier in the northwest corner of the Industrial District. Help him take out some Frost Giants to complete his first mission.

Heimdall next appears on a rooftop overlooking Times Square. He informs you of some frozen civilians in the area. Use fire or lasers to free the civilians on the neighboring roof, in the square, and on a rooftop behind the square and complete the mission.

Heimdall's last appearance is by a pizza shop in the southeast corner of Little Italy. His Asgardian friend is at the wrong meeting place, so follow the red studs to find him at a clothing store near Ant-Man's Lab. Escort him back to end the mission and unlock Heimdall.

Rocket Raccoon

In the middle of the Scrapyard, you can find Rocket Raccoon. He's lost his knife, so follow the red studs into Yorkville. Bust up the grey dumpster over the nearby fence to find the knife, then return it to complete the first mission.

You'll next find Rocket Raccoon in an apartment courtyard in Upper West Side. This time, he'll want a hand taking out some baddies to prove a point to Squirrel Girl. Take out the Frost Giants that show up to complete the mission and unlock Star-Lord.

Rocket Raccoon's last appearance is on a boardwalk in Little Italy. He needs a picture proof of a giraffe atop a tall building. Fly all the way to the top of Fisk Tower, and look for the camera icon on a perch overlooking the giraffe in question. Use Spider-Man's Peter Parker form to snap a photo, then return it to Rocket Raccoon to complete the mission and unlock him.

Punisher

You'll find Punisher near the Raft Ferry Port in East Harlem. For his first mission, he needs a polluting truck taken out. Hop into his van and ram into the vehicle in question to take it out and complete the mission.

Punisher next appears in a lower-level car lot in the Upper East Side. He needs more trucks taken out. Do so to finish this mission.

Punisher's final appearance is near Fogwell's Gym, in the southern section of the Upper West Side. He's got - you guessed it - more trucks for you to smash. Take them all out to finish the last mission and unlock Punisher's character token.
