Guardians of the Galaxy 2's Groot will be even more "goofy" according to Vin Diesel
Sequels normally see things becoming bigger and better, but that’s not the case for the much-loved Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy 2. In fact, voice actor Vin Diesel reckons the reborn Groot "couldn’t be more naïve".
Speaking to Collider, Vin Diesel has warned that Groot won’t be the same anthropomorphic tree… thing from the first movie. "He has to start all over… we’re gonna see this goofy, adorable, baby Groot thing running around the screen and just learning as he goes," the Belgian actor explains. Hopefully Groot focuses on learning even more killer dance moves. Shake those branches, baby!
Vin Diesel will also be working overtime to record Groot’s lines, uhh... line, in different languages before the movie’s release in 2017: "Every moment in the movie I have to do like 15, 16 times in different languages… I love that, but it definitely makes it that much more challenging."
For those who need an intergalactic refresher, Groot sacrificed himself at the end of the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie but, in the mid-credits sting, it was revealed that he was 'reincarnated' as a teeny-weeny cute Groot. Who knew a tree could be so darn sweet?
Directed by James Gunn and starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, and Vin Diesel, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will hit UK cinemas on April 28, 2017 and open in US theatres on May 5, 2017.
