How to get the Subnautica 2 Heat Adaptation
The Subnautica 2 Heat Tolerance Adaptation allows you to swim in near-boiling temperatures
The Subnautica 2 Heat Tolerance Adaptation is an integral part of the game’s progression and is required if you want to explore the warm, dangerous waters beyond your home base. As with other Adaptations, Heat Tolerance is located in the core of an Angel Comb. However, you won’t be able to access the core without clearing out a viral infection that’s causing the coral structure to seize up.
Unlocking this particular adaptation requires careful planning and a few essential tools to ensure success. Our guide explains where to find the Subnautica 2 Heat Tolerance Adaptation and what to bring in your pack for this expedition.
How to get the Heat Tolerance Adaptation in Subnautica 2
To get the Heat Tolerance Adaptation in Subnautica 2, you must first heal an infected Angel Comb located around 190-200m northwest of the lifepod, at a bearing of approximately 285 degrees.
When you arrive, look down for a raised rock structure surrounded by Mimic Pylons, with an inconspicuous hole bored into its surface. Inside, you’ll find the infected Angel Comb.
If you want you can discover how to rid her of her infection yourself, but if you want help, we have a separate guide on healing the Subnautica 2 Angel Comb. Before you begin, you must also have the Subnautica 2 Sonic Resonator to hand, so make sure you've got that first, too.
Additionally, due to the presence of particularly aggressive sea life in the area, we recommend bringing a few flares to distract them on this expedition, as well as some first aid kits to recover your health. Notably, though, if you do die mid-cleanse and get reprinted back home, you can just swim back and continue the remaining parts of the mission regardless.
Once you've healed the Angel Comb, and with the Heat Tolerance Adaptation unlocked, you can finally explore warmer areas and push on with the main story.
