Where to find salt in Subnautica 2
Subnautica 2 salt has a multitude of uses, from food to electronics, but it's hard to find in earlier sections - here's where to look
There are two main locations for finding salt in Subnautica 2: one houses just a few pieces, but will be plenty in the early game, while you'll find much more in later zones. Whichever part of the survival game you're currently working through, and for whatever purpose you need salt, I've got you covered.
Salt is a strange Subnautica 2 resource in that it isn't needed that much, but it can be used in a multitide of ways. Whether you're sick of dying from starvation and need some food that doesn't go off, or you're crafting a back up power cell for your tadpole, you're going to need some salt, so here's where to go looking.
Where to find salt in Subnautica 2
Unlike many other resources that only appear in one part of the game or another, salt is required and found across the entire Subnautica 2 map. That said, it's much more sparse in the area surrounding your lifepod. To find salt early, turn the signal on for Chap's blackbox, head towards it from the lifepod, swim past it, and then you should see some salt deposits below you. Descend deeper at the edge of this plateau and you'll find some larger salt rocks below. This is about 115m below the surface, 300m southeast from the lifepod.
Salt is most predominantly used for crafting power cells, which are essential for operating your Subnautica 2 tadpole, and you should always have a spare on you so you're not left stranded. However, you should also consider using salt to craft jerky. While cooked fish heals a decent amount of hunger, it goes off, but you can carry a tub of jerky around until you need it with no fear of deterioration.
There are late-game spoilers alerts ahead, but read on if you're looking for salt in other areas of the map.
Once you're out of this area and in the second part of the early access campaign, you may need more salt, especially when you need some jerky to keep you fed on those longer journeys. The best place to look here is near the Rosetta Stone, about 250m to the southwest of the Alien Ruins Research Center. You'll find larger deposits here, with each one broken by the Sonic Resonator dropping around five pieces.
