After finding out that it was the V-One in Soldier Boy's system that saved him from Billy Butcher's Supe-killing virus in the latest episode of The Boys season 5, Homelander is on the hunt for the first iteration of Compound V.
Smarty pants Sister Sage insists there's not a drop left out there but thanks to a (truly bizarre) vision of an angelic Madelyn in episode 3, the breastmilk-guzzling antagonist is convinced it's his "destiny" to find some and use it to become immortal.
As the plot ramps up, fans have been looking to all sorts of promotional material for clues as to what's to come, including a calendar-based social post. And now, they think they've spotted a couple of hidden details in the trailer that confirms Homelander will get his hands on the potent blue goo...
Article continues belowAs pointed out on Twitter by The Beyond Reporter, there's a moment in the ad that sees Homelander (Antony Starr) unleash his Superman-esque laser vision as he yells out in pain (or ecstasy?!), while kneeling next to a syringe containing blue liquid.
While some think it's proof he'll take V-One, others have their own interesting theories, with one fan suggesting that Sister Sage (Susan Heyward) will have swapped the substance out for the virus while another reckons that the virus won't kill him, it'll just rob him of his powers. A fate worse than death when it comes to Homelander, surely?
Check out some further reactions below...
Betting there will be a big fight over V1, Butcher's crew swap the V1 for the virus, Homelander injects it thinking it's the V1 and this is his reaction to finding out that it's not, throwing a massive tantrum and crying and sobbing before he dies the modt gruesome death yetApril 16, 2026
Watch them pull some shenanigans like Butcher somehow being a mutated manifestation of v1. That’s why everyone freaks out so much when looking inside himApril 16, 2026
The V1 will backfire on homelander so hard He is completly ignoring the reason as to why it was stopped , one thousands deaths for one successful V1 supe is not a good ratioApril 16, 2026
Elsewhere, @GameRoll_ made an edit of the trailer shots we've not yet seen in The Boys season 5; one of which depicts a person being injected with V-One as Sage looks on. Could the recipient be Homelander? It's certainly a possibility, though his impenetrable skin may put a pin in that argument...
