Homelander star teases the Supe's victory in The Boys season 5 finale, and an unused shot from the trailer seems to back it up
Antony Starr seems to agree with the fan theory that Homelander will survive the series finale
Despite Homelander dying in the comics, The Boys fans think the Supe may actually survive the series finale after actor Antony Starr seemingly agreed with the fan theory online.
Warning, spoilers for The Boys season 5 episode 6 follow.
Pretty much the whole of The Boys season 5 has focused on how Butcher and his crew will kill Homelander to bring the show to a close. At the beginning, the Boys were sure that their homemade Supe virus would put an end to the Seven leader once and for all. However, after learning that those with V-One in their blood were immune, both the Boys and Homelander started desperately searching for the formula.
However, in the most recent episode of The Boys, Homelander finally gets his hands on V-One after Soldier Boy took it from Bomsight. The Supe injected himself with the blue liquid and started displaying god-level powers. The episode ended there, so we have yet to see the full effects of V-One on Homelander, but the fact that he has actually taken it has convinced some fans that he may actually be unkillable. It sounds like Starr thinks so, too.
When movie influencer ThaScreenBuff posted his theory on how Homelander may end up being victorious over Butcher and his crew, Homelander actor Antony Starr replied with the hand over smiling mouth emoji, which is usually used when you want to agree with something but you can't outright say it.
But Starr's cryptic emoji isn't the only piece of evidence, as another fan has found that clips from The Boys season 5 trailer showing Homelander sitting in the Oval Office haven't been used yet. "Every day, we move closer and closer to the possibility of this scene being the final shot of the series," said one fan on Twitter. Others argued that surely Prime Video wouldn't spoil the ending weeks before it aired.
However, another fan pointed out that The Boys season 3 trailer also contains a shot of the season's last scene, where Homelander is nervously laughing after a crowd of his supporters cheered him following his brutal murder of a stralighter. What do you think, could the very last scene in the whole Boys series be of Homelander sitting in the Oval Office, in charge of the nation, after defeating all of his enemies? We will just have to wait and see.
