With huge franchises like the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Star Wars, and Pixar, Disney Plus remains one of the best streaming services out there. And that's not even taking into account the company's long and storied history as the home of some of the best animated movies of all time.
Pick of the month for April 2026
Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord
This new animated series gets us up close and personal with one of Star Wars' most iconic villains. Set some time after the Clone Wars, Maul – Shadow Lord finds the ex-Sith now roaming the galaxy and trying to build a criminal empire. Along the way, he'll seek to take on a new apprentice and encounter some enemies who are even more dangerous than he is.
If you're worried that Maul being at the center of things means that he's been de-fanged, don't fret – the showrunners have promised that while he is facing some big threats, this take on Maul is still very much a villain. This looks like a gripping exploration of one of Star Wars' most intriguing characters.
Daredevil: Born Again season 2
Marvel's Man Without Fear returns in a much-improved second season of Daredevil: Born Again. With Kingpin (the great Vincent D'Onofrio) now firmly in control of New York City, Daredevil (Charlie Cox) is forced into hiding. As he gathers his allies, including an increasingly tough Karen (Deborah Ann Woll) and Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), other threats start to emerge.
Daredevil: Born Again season 2 takes everything that was great about the show's first run and ditches some of the weaker elements. It's telling a more focused story and one that hinges on the two core characters that make this show so compelling: Cox's tormented Matt Murdock/Daredevil and D'Onofrio's nuanced, likeable, but utterly deadly Wilson Fisk/Kingpin.
