Despite "complicated rights issues", Kingpin actor Vincent D'Onofrio hopes he gets to fight Spider-Man someday: "If Sony and Marvel ever get their s*** together maybe"
Vincent D'Onofrio wants Kingpin vs Spider-Man to happen, but it's out of his hands
Daredevil star Vincent D'Onofrio wants Kingpin to take on Spider-Man – but he doesn't know when that might be possible.
"Need the matchup asap," one fan wrote on Twitter, after D'Onofrio made a joking reference to "that insect", AKA Tom Holland's web-slinger (although spiders are, of course, arachnids rather than insects).
"If Sony and Marvel ever get their sh*t together maybe," D'Onofrio replied. "It's a complicated rights issue. Hope so."
The new Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer gave us our first look at Punisher in the new movie, and fans think there's even a chance the teaser could have been hiding Daredevil, too (although Charlie Cox has denied this – if a Marvel star's word can ever be trusted ahead of a big release like Spider-Man: Brand New Day).
Still, Kingpin's transition to the big screen is a little more complicated. "Right now, I’m only usable for television series," he said in an interview last year. "Different kinds of series, whatever it is, but not even a one-off Fisk movie or anything like that, it’s all caught up in rights and stuff. I don’t know when that would work out, or if it ever would work out at all, actually."
Wilson Fisk next returns to our screens in Daredevil: Born Again season 2, in which he'll face off against Cox's Man Without Fear once again – but not Frank Castle, as he's got his own Punisher TV special in the works instead.
Daredevil: Born Again season 2 arrives on Disney Plus on March 24 in the US and March 25 in the UK. Stay up to date with our Daredevil: Born Again season 2 release schedule, or look ahead to the other upcoming Marvel movies and shows.
