Doug Liman signs up for Splinter Cell, Powers heads to PlayStation TV, Grimm renewed and could a Game of Thrones movie finish the series? All in today’s news round-up

• Powers is heading to PlayStation. Afters years of development and a failed pilot at FX, Image/Icon Comics’ noirish superhero police procedural is finally getting a full series thanks to new partner Sony Pictures Television. The project will be completely recast and comic book writer Charlie Huston will step in on writing duties with The Walking Dead ’s Circle of Confusion and Falling Skies ’ Remi Aubuchon on executive producing duties. The show is the first scripted drama to be distributed on Sony’s PlayStation Network via home consoles.

• George R.R. Martin has suggested it might take a “ feature budget ” to finish Game Of Thrones , explaining: “Those dragons get real big.” He’s also talked about the possibility of the show overtaking the books, admitting: “It might be tight on the last book, A Dream Of Spring. ” GoT season four starts 7 April on Sky Atlantic.

• Captain America: The First Avenger and The Winter Soldier scribes Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely have been talking Captain America 3 . Apparently they’ve ruled out “Cap fighting the Dinosaur Man” but mentioned “psychotic 1950s Cap” as a possible reference point for the threequel. The Winter Solider , meanwhile, hits the UK on 26 March 2014.

• And finally, Markus and McFeely have also been chatting to Collider about the proposed Agent Carter spin-off (which has yet to be green lit). Apparently ABC have the pair’s pilot script in hand, which features a 1946 setting and takes place in the middle of the Peggy Carter One-Shot. If the series goes ahead, Hayley Atwell is apparently still keen to star and Markus and McFeely have suggested Howard Stark would be a recurring character.
