The Rock talks Fast Five sequels

After Justin Lin’s kinetic Fast Five successfully gave the Fast and Furious franchise a much-needed tune-up, it’s no surprise to hear that two more sequels have been greenlit by Universal.

Initially, the plans were for Lin to film parts six and seven back-to-back, but according to Dwayne Johnson, the schedule has now changed.

“I don’t think we’re going to shoot them back-to-back,” he told MTV . “We were going to try that because it wouldn’t make sense to have the same crew and have everybody there in one place [ and not try it ], but I think we’re dealing with some weather issues, so from what I know we’re going to shoot Fast Six first and then worry about Fast Seven a little later.”

Those weather issues might have something to do with the next film’s location, which is set to be a little less sun-kissed than Fast Five ’s Rio shoot…

“We’re going to be in the UK, we’re going to be in Germany, from what I know,” continued Johnson. “That’s the early talk. And we’re going to start shooting in May.”

Fast Six is pencilled in to open in the UK on 24 May 2013.
