Sylvester Stallone sued over The Expendables

Screenwriter Marcus Webb has this week filed legal action against Sylvester Stallone in Manhattan Federal Court.

He is suing the Hollywood hardman for breach of copyright, stating that 2010 film The Expendables is “in some places identical” to his work The Cordoba Caper , which he tried to sell in Hollywood between 2006 and 2009.

If successful, Webb would be entitled to significant damages.

The lawsuit also asks for a court order prohibiting further infringement, which could affect the release of T he Expendables 2 , currently on schedule for an August 2012 release.

The Expendables 2 will once again feature an all-star cast of action heroes, with the likes of Chuck Norris and Jean-Claude Van Damme recruited for the sequel.

Representatives of Stallone have as of yet been unavailable for comment.
