Peyton Reed "would love" to direct Ant-Man 2

Ant-Man has now enjoyed its official premiere, and Variety took the opportunity to grill Peyton Reed on the issue of potential sequels, with the director revealing he would be keen to return to the director's chair.

"If we’re fortunate enough to do another Ant-Man movie, I would love to do it," said Reed, an opinion that was shared by leading lady Evangeline Lilly. "All I know is that I had to sign up for three films, as does anybody," she said. "And I hope they use me for two more."

Meanwhile, James Gunn took to Facebook to give his feedback on the film, describing it as his "favourite Marvel film since Jon Favreau's Iron Man." Gunn went on to note that Edgar Wright's influence can still be felt in the finished film, before enthusing, "so often I see movies by people I love which are just okay - it's great to love a movie as much as I love the people who made it."

Feedback on the film seems to have been pretty positive across the board, and it sounds as though Marvel may just have another monster hit on its hands. Co-starring Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas and Corey Stoll, Ant-Man will open in the UK and US on 17 July 2015.
