Even more Harry Potter movies may be on the way

It looks like Warner Bros. is getting ready to cast an engorgement charm on the Harry Potter universe. The company has put together a Harry Potter Global Franchise Development Team (HPGFDT for short), according to Den of Geek, led by chief marketing officer Polly Cochrane.

The group's duties include coordinating upcoming films like Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, theme parks, and other products like the Pottermore website (though it's apparently not very involved with Harry Potter and the Cursed Child). Since Warner Bros. is putting together a team dedicated entirely to expanding the Potter franchise, it sounds like we can expect even more in the coming years.

Harry Potter author JK Rowling is on board as screenwriter for Fantastic Beasts, which is set hit theaters in the US and UK on November 18, as well as its two planned sequels. I wouldn't be surprised if Warner Bros. goes for a Star Wars-like approach with spin off films and other licensed properties between entries in the trilogy proper, all under the management of the good ol' HPGFDT.

I got a BA in journalism from Central Michigan University - though the best education I received there was from CM Life, its student-run newspaper. Long before that, I started pursuing my degree in video games by bugging my older brother to let me play Zelda on the Super Nintendo. I've previously been a news intern for GameSpot, a news writer for CVG, and now I'm a staff writer here at GamesRadar.
