Eva Green cast in Sin City: A Dame To Kill For

Eva Green has been cast as Ava Lord in Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller's Sin City: A Dame To Kill For .

Ava Lord is the dame of the title, described by Rodriguez and Miller as "one of the most fascinating and deadly residents of Sin City." When you think about the inhabitants of Basin City that we've already met, that's quite a statement.

Green will share a lot of scenes with series newcomer Josh Brolin, who's playing her one-time lover Dwight (originally played by Clive Owen, until the plot called for him to have a different face).

It's not much of a stretch to imagine the French actress fitting in well in Sin City 's heightened comic-book reality: she's got the otherworldly presence and, let's be honest, smouldering good looks that are perfect for a femme fatale writ large.

Plus, Green has form with Frank Miller-inspired comic-book properties, having recently wrapped on Spartan prequel, 300: Rise Of An Empire .

Rodriguez and Miller said of her appointment, "We've been wanting to tell this story for a very long time. Ava Lord is one of the most deadly and fascinating residents of Sin City. From the start, we knew that the actor would need to be able to embody the multifaceted characteristics of this femme fatale and we found that in Eva Green. We are ecstatic that Eva is joining us."

Green joins a hell of an ensemble: returning players Mickey Rourke, Jessica Alba, Bruce Willis and Rosario Dawson sit alongside noobs Brolin, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ray Liotta and Juno Temple.

Sin City: A Dame To Kill For opens in the US on 4 October 2013.
