New Zelda: Skyward Sword trailer features 100% more Goron than other Skyward Sword trailers

Rock-eating Zelda favourite puts in an appearance

Nintendo has released a new Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword trailer especially for Comic-Con. Most of the footage is a rehash of the video released for this year's E3, but it does give a first look at a Goron in the game. And Gorons eat rocks. So they pretty much rule.

This is the Goron again, in case you missed him:

With that big backpack he reminds us of one of the disguised Goron travelling merchants from Wind Waker:

And let's hope there's room for some Goron dancing in Skyward Sword. Watching Darunia the Goron King cut a rug in Ocarina of Time has to be one of the best Zelda bits of all time EVAR:

So, yeah, Gorons. It's pretty hard not to love them.

I would love to see a Zelda game that featured a little more personalization on the equipments, like featuring lots of different swords and shields.

Some bits of the enviroment graphics seem to borrow a lot from Wind Waker, and that's a good thing. It's great to see a colorful world after all the grimness of Twilight Princess.

Please please please please let THIS be the Zelda game which allows some variation in the general structure of the game. Only Majora's Mask has ever dared give it a try. I really, really do not want Grass Temple-Fire Temple-Water Temple-Master Sword-Weird Temple-Weird Temple-Weird Temple-Ganondorf. We're grown-ups, Nintendo. Give us a story and a world we can get our teeth into. I'm not the only one who thinks this (Edge said it in a preview last year): Skyward Sword has a lot to prove.

@Nikku7- So that means Just Wii, but I need to get a motionPlus. Are those available SEPARATE from That bloody Wii resort thing?

Zelda trailer: the directors cut. Also, it looks like we might be getting a wind waker style overworld wich needs to be travelled by your magical dragon bird. Also gorons, they eat rocks, they bathe in molten rocks, they are rocks and they probably crap rocks. They're tough as nails and as friendly and smart as gingerbread.

@metroid2099400 your not the only one who thinks links lips look weird, Captcha: hemoglobin torevici

@jackthemenace pretty sure it's just for wii motion plus. I believe that they mention that the Vaati look alike was actually a new enemy in one of their E3 hands on previews. I forget the name. He catches your sword attacks with his hand and throws them back or something like that.

I'm just excited for the idea of a new Zelda experience. It definitely doesn't look lacking in creativity, and that's one of the main parts of what makes a Zelda game. The sky theme also sits well with me, but I hope it doesn't turn out like any of the on-rails flying segments as in mario galaxy 2. Possibly a fast travel function or a free flight thing like pilotwings without a timer would be a welcome addition.

Well, I liked Spirit Tracks... Anyway, This DOES look awesome. i want it. Still confused as to whether it's a Wii or a Wii U release, unless they're doing a Twilight Princess and releasing it on Both. And, was that Vaati i saw near the end? Or has that already been covered in a different trailer?

I'm cautiously optimistic about this game, simply because I'm scared that they'll go overboard with the Motion Plus utilization. Also: Am I the only one who thinks that Link's lips look really weird?
  • KolbitosFruitJuice - July 21, 2011 6:24 p.m.

Pretty much exactly the same but with a small segment of Goron, just like you said, but it gets me excited again. Its really hard not to get my expectations up when the game is looking so good.

@db1331 Sorry, I meant to say second favourite. My favourite would be either Majoras Mask or Wind Waker.
  • db1331 - July 21, 2011 5:37 p.m.

@reuben0110 How on earth could ST possibly be your favorite Zelda game? Is it the only one you've played?
  • reuben0110 - July 21, 2011 5:29 p.m.

@db1331 Oddly enough, Spirit Tracks is my favourite Zelda game. But I don't see how the birds bits could ruin the whole game for you.
  • MrDuracraft - July 21, 2011 4:16 p.m.

@db1331 I thought Spirit Tracks was just fine, but holy fuck the Galaxy 2 bird parts sucked. Considering bird travel is probably a central point in this game, it will most likely be fine. @MattofSteel That is Zelda, she just isn't a princess in this game, as it has been stated before.
  • db1331 - July 21, 2011 2:50 p.m.

@flabslapper Exactly. I'm way more scared about this game than I am excited about it, and Zelda has always been my favorite franchise. Spirit Tracks really took a toll on me. About halfway through it I realized I wasn't playing it because it was fun, I was just playing it because it was Zelda. When I finally finished it I sat on the sofa for about 5 minutes just completely stunned that I actually HATED a Zelda game.
  • shawksta - July 21, 2011 2:47 p.m.

Awesome. You cant hate Gorons, its a Fact! @db1331 True on the bird bits, Im still killing myself trying to get the Green stars from both bird galaxies, but seeing how Skyward sword's Main point is the precise Motion Controls, then I highly doubebt there will be any problems, especially with Wii Motion Plus. Understandable if you hate Spirit Tracks, But i loved it, Better than Phantom hourglass atleast

The bird sections in galaxy 2 were quite terrible. However we have no way of knowing if the bird sections in this game will control the same. We don't know if riding a bird around will be your Epona in this game or just a means of warping. Also, no idea if that is Zelda. Sure she wears pink and is blonde and gets captured in the early part of the game ... but why is a princess living in the "sky village" with Link. Just once I want a freaking game to end with Link being made king of Hyrule or something. Hey, you defeated evil ... you are now the boss and heres a hot princess. And yes Gorons are awesome. Best part of Majora's Mask is being able to control one.
  • ParanoidAndroid - July 21, 2011 2:31 p.m.

    What a hot beat.
