God of War Laufey's release reportedly isn't "years away," but don't expect a PC launch
Its lack of release window apparently might not be a bad sign
The next God of War game, God of War Laufey, has been officially revealed, but despite no hint of a release window, a reliable journalist suggests we won't be waiting too long before it's in our hands.
God of War Laufey was definitely the biggest announcement to come from yesterday's PlayStation State of Play, with 20 minutes of footage showcasing protagonist Faye – Kratos's dead wife – being sent to the afterlife of the gods, the Everywhen, and immediately finding herself taking on two enemy gods. Notably, though, no release window was given – not even a year – with its PlayStation Store page simply saying that it's "announced" with its "release date to be determined."
With that in mind, you'd be forgiven for thinking that Laufey might be a more distant release, but according to Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier, that might not be the case. Taking to Bluesky after the game's reveal, he writes: "FWIW I wouldn't read too much into God of War Laufey not getting a release date or window – in contrast to a lot of other big announcements, this one *isn't* years away."

While he doesn't give any specifics, responding to one user who asks if Laufey could be a 2028 release, Schreier says: "Definitely not."
Otherwise, Schreier also claims that God of War Laufey isn't coming to PC. This follows previous reports that PlayStation is apparently ending PC support for its major single-player releases, meaning we supposedly won't see any more titles like Marvel's Spider-Man, Horizon Zero Dawn, or indeed, God of War arrive on Steam. If that holds true, it seems likely that anyone wanting to play God of War Laufey without a PS5 may be out of luck.
