The best gaming tech we've reviewed in May 2026
The biggest hitters of the month
From the Steam Controller to limited edition ZX Spectrum editions, May has been filled with surprises. This month's review roster has been filled with PC and retro gadgets in particular, with a few Nintendo Switch and PS5 options in the world of audio.
The SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Omni, however, is our top pick from this month. The new flagship, successor to the much-loved SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless, has shot to the top of our best gaming headset guides with a perfect five-star review score.
Elsewhere, the best Hall effect keyboards were joined by the Logitech G512 X, a beginner-friendly hot-swappable model that makes some smart choices with its switches and design.
Of course, the Steam Controller landed with a splash as well - though it's not our top-rated of the month. Duncan's had his thumbs busy with a number of gamepads in May, and it's the GameSir G7 Pro 8K that's won this sprint. While that 8,000Hz polling rate won't be necessary for most players its swappable thumbsticks and extra pizazz compared to the original GameSir G7 Pro make it a fantastic option for competitive PC and Xbox players.

Managing Editor of Hardware at GamesRadar+, I originally landed in hardware at our sister site TechRadar before moving over to GamesRadar. In between, I've written for Tom’s Guide, Wireframe, The Indie Game Website and That Video Game Blog, covering everything from the PS5 launch to the Apple Pencil. Now, i'm focused on Nintendo Switch, gaming laptops (and the keyboards, headsets and mice that come with them), PS5, and trying to find the perfect projector.
