I find it funny how the training area is still just a giant ugly grid...thingy. But cool stuff nonetheless. I'll probably be rockin' Wolvie's brown and yellow suit like it's going out of style...even though it already has.

The white and black Viewtiful Joe could be a vague reference to the Biankies, the common enemy in the games?
  • sgloomy - February 11, 2011 1:55 a.m.

@GamesRadarBrettElston thanks, yet ANOTHER sign i play ssf4 too much, at least that is going to be the case till MvC3 comes out!
  • zonic505 - February 11, 2011 1:52 a.m.

FYI, the yellow alt. for C. Viper is based on Rufus from SFIV.
  • HumorTumor - February 11, 2011 1:50 a.m.

Looks like palette swaps and not costumes
  • Centros - February 11, 2011 1:49 a.m.

The white Viewtiful Joe costume looks like Emperor Black after he activates all the Rainbow Oscars.
  • GamesRadarBrettElston - February 11, 2011 1:32 a.m.

^ Wow sgloomy, good eye. I didn't pick up on that.
  • sgloomy - February 11, 2011 1:21 a.m.

@GRHenry C.Vipers costumes are all references to the other SFIV characters that came out with her, from left to right, El Fuerte, Rufus, Abel.
  • smashpro1 - February 11, 2011 1:09 a.m.

I'm pretty sure Zero's first alt is actually a reference to the Mega Man Zero sub-series.
  • GR_HenryGilbert - February 11, 2011 1:04 a.m.

Yes thank you all for catching the mistakes. I've since updated the story with your helpful notes.
  • alexnoes - February 11, 2011 12:57 a.m.

Oh well it's already been commented but what the hell: Wesker's first alternate color is like Virgil from DMC 3 Zero's first alternate color is Axel from Megaman X8 I think
  • ashamaxa - February 11, 2011 12:57 a.m.

The Zero outfits are obviously homage to Bass, Axl and X. And what about the Amaterasu outfits? you're looking like no fans of Okami at all.... LIARS!
  • bl00s - February 11, 2011 12:51 a.m.

@MrSuitMan lol... you're right. looks like GR aren't fans of Okami after all. LIARS!!! :D
  • ashamaxa - February 11, 2011 12:47 a.m.

nero is not Dante's brother, is Vergil. Come on GR! put some effort on this.
  • bl00s - February 11, 2011 12:44 a.m.

Wesker 1- Vergil from DMC Wesker 3 - Big Boss(?) from MGS3 Zero 1 - Axel from MMX games The dark shadings and shadows really don't accentuate the colors like they did in MvC2 though.
  • Ridureyu - February 11, 2011 12:43 a.m.

Who wants to bet that Shuma-Gorath has purple as an alt?* *He was purple in MSH, and purple in his first few Doctor Strange appearances.
  • DustyRooster - February 11, 2011 12:42 a.m.

While some of these outfits are true to the characters, it seems that most of them are just color changes on the costume that they are already wearing. I would have liked to see some actual different costumes. A Planet Hulk armor, or a Bucky variant on the Captain America suit. I would even take some different hair styles or something. Still looks like a sweet ass game though!
  • MrSuitMan - February 11, 2011 12:41 a.m.

The Amaterasu alts reference the other Canine Warriors in the game. Remember those guys?
  • darkvare - February 11, 2011 12:39 a.m.

weskers first alt color is the exact color scheme of vergil(not sure if writen correctly) from dmc 3
  • Sensationo - February 11, 2011 12:35 a.m.

Oh an by the way the dark blue red suit is a nod to another character from the Mega Man X universe and that is Axel.... although I feel sad for knowing it since those games got worse as they went.
