E3 2006: America's Army: Special Forces (Overmatch)

Congratulations, soldier, you’ve just been granted the opportunity to train with the US Army’s elite Special Forces, in the update to the wildly popular online multiplayer shooter, America’s Army: Special Forces. The Overmatch expansion will be a free download from and you don’t even need to enlist.

Today at E3, we got a chance to ride along with an early version of the Overmatch expansion. A key highlight of the update is the addition of co-op multiplayer. Previously only an online multiplayer team-vs-team battle of humans, you can now play with your buddies against computer-based AI. The computer enemies are both wily and unpredictable, because they all play a different role in the fight. You’ll run up against commanders who’ll huddle and rally common foot soldiers against you, or terrorist cell leaders that will be perfectly happy to rush your team solo - or simply run away.
