Zac Efron finds Orson Welles

Zac Efron’s one of those perennially perky types with a career birthed by the likes of High School Musical that you never quite sure are going to break out of the tween movie rut.

But of all the HSM graduating class, he’s the one who seems to be stretching himself with more interesting roles. His latest is in Me And Orson Welles, which Richard Linklater will direct based on Robert Kaplow’s novel.

It focuses on a 1930’s high school student (Efron) who stumbles on Welles’ Mercury theatre just as the place is about to open and is spotted by the great director and future pea salesman himself. The lad is cast in Julius Caesar and ends up learning a few life lessons. The Hollywood Reporter has all the details .
