Krysten Ritter to head up Marvels Jessica Jones series

Marvel looks to have found its Jessica Jones, with Deadline reporting that Krysten Ritter will play the titular detective in the forthcoming Netflix show.

It was recently reported that Alexandra Daddario, Teresa Palmer and Jessica De Gouw were all in the running, but it seems as though the former Breaking Bad star has beaten them all to the punch.

Deadline also reports that Mike Colter is in line to play Luke Cage, with Ritter and Palmer said to have tested opposite him in their respective auditions. Cage is expected to make his first on-screen appearance in the Jessica Jones series, before getting his own solo show…

For those unfamiliar with the source material, Jones is a superhero suffering from PTSD, who hangs up her cape and open a detective agency where she helps other superheroes in the ongoing fight against crime.

Jessica Jones
will be the second Marvel / Netflix collaboration to air, after Daredevil makes its bow next summer. No specific release date has been confirmed at this stage.
