Ryan Reynolds is still fighting for Deadpool to be R-rated

Deadpool may finally be up and running, but it seems as though there is still a question mark over what rating it will be aiming for. Ryan Reynolds has long been vocal about the need to make the film an R, but has revealed it’s an issue he’s still fighting over.

“I want #Deadpool to be R,” said Reynolds in answer to a question directed at his Twitter feed. “Always have. Fighting the good fight still. Lotta yelling today.”

Reynolds had previously suggested that the film’s comparatively low budget would liberate it from the kind of creative constraints that occasionally hamper bigger comic-book movies. However, whether Fox decides to take the plunge to release a truly adult, R-rated superhero story remains to be seen…

Meanwhile, the film has added another supporting player to its ensemble, with THR reporting that Brianna Hildebrand has signed on to play Negasonic Teenage Warhead. Directed by Tim Miller and co-starring Morena Baccarin, Deadpool will open in the UK and US on 12 February 2016.
