Ragnarok: The Viking Apocalypse DVD review

"Ragnarok, that's where I'm a Viking."

Ignore the title – this mis-sold Norwegian adventure doesn’t really have anything to do with the apocalypse or, strangely, the Vikings. Instead, it’s a Nordic National Treasure that turns into a monster movie as a deadbeat archaeologist (Kon-Tiki’s Pål Sverre Hagen) drags his kids to a dig and accidentally wakes a giant mythological sea snake.

Sorely in need of a sense of humour and a bigger FX budget, it manages to rip pages out of Spielberg’s book without too many rough edges. ‘Indiana Svendsen And The Attack Of The Loch Norse Monster’ would have been a better title, though...
